I love my goats and have fit my life around them since 1974. These are the last of my does. I keep no new does. As these does die, my High Reaches herd grows smaller. It is one of the things that happens when a goat keeper grows old.
- Born in 2014 High Reaches Silk’s Augustus has grown big and heavy. He is always eager for a handout such as persimmons and squash pieces.
- Born in 2010 High Reaches Daisy’s Trina is the oldest goat in my herd. She is showing her age having lost some weight. Her gait is stiff and slow. She is retired.
- Born in 2011 High Reaches Sprite’s Matilda is starting to show her age. After some teeth troubles, she is again looking well and eyeing Augustus.
- Born in 2011 High Reaches Sasha’s Violet is much like her mother with the old fashioned heavy build. She is an easy going doe.
- Born in 2013 High Reaches Silk’s Drucilla is a mature doe, a good and reliable milker who raises lovely kids.
- Born in 2013 High Reaches Butter’s Juliette is a big, mature doe now so different from the little kid who spent two weeks in the house because she was so small at birth.
- Born in 2014 High Reaches Pixie’s Spring is a big, red doe. She is headstrong and flighty.
- Born in 2015 High Reaches Lydia looks so much like her mother I have trouble telling them apart. both are good milkers and beautiful goats.
- Born in 2015 High Reaches Drucilla’s Rose looks older because of her frosted black coat. She hangs around waiting to be petted or snagging sycamore leaves I pick up.
- Born in 2017 High Reaches Pixie Natasha is one of the youngest does in my herd. She loves to be petted, but carelessly stands on my feet crowding in to be first.
- Born in 2017 High Reaches Pixie Pamela is proving her ability to do an extended lactation this winter. She is not as friendly as her sister Natasha.
- Born in 2017 my precious High Reaches Spring’s Agate still calls me to go out to pasture with her and stops at the gate for petting.
- Born in 2018 High Reaches Pixie’s Valerie is the youngest doe in my herd. She still likes to run and play although she is settling down more. She loves attention.
Your goats are sooo beautifull.
